Mists of Pandaria Initial Reactions

Opening zone and Starter Quests

Ok so before I start this review I must first talk about how my relationship with Blizzard is currently on hiatus until they make it up to me through some great romantic act to win back my affection.

I admit that I haven't been playing WoW for as long as other people have been but in the year that I have been playing I have thouraghly enjoyed it and i definitely count myself as a player, so when I saw the benefits of the WoW annual pass it was pretty obvious what I was going to do. So there's little 'ol me sitting there thinking "oh yay, i'm gonna get my pandas soon"....no chance.

I understand that they were staggering the beta invites and that those that had been playing longest were to get their invites first and i totally respect that that the veteran players deserve their invites first. However, I did think it was bait ridiculous that they were going to be basing this on the longest ACTIVE accounts. Now this normally wouldn't be that much of an issue but for some people I thought that this pretty much meant that Blizzard were bending them over and making them their bitch. My dear boyfriend Richard is the one who introduced me to WoW and he has been playing the game for over five years, so when we signed up to the annual pass I expected that rich was going to get his first and so did he and this was something that he looked forward with great anticipation. However a couple months ago due to some financial difficulties his account went inactive for about a month, and because of this one thing he had to wait an inordinate amount of time to get his beta invite.

When we finally received them the starter zone was exactly what I would have expected. It was graphically exciting, however, after realising for some reason I was on a chinese server I then had to log back out and change realms. My initial reaction to the starter zone other than the fact that it was visually stunning was just how crammed it was. I know that this was obviously very early on in the beta tests and its going to be full, but when you have to wait ten minutes just to get close enough to an NPC to pick up the very first quest (unimpressed face). The first quests were interesting, and I thought the way that they made sure that the quests took you all over the starter zone so that you got to fully appreciate and view it.

I know this has been a very short review and not as in depth as I would have liked but this is just my initial reactions after all. Included are some screen shots of the starter zone courtesy of my boyfriend Richard (Atreyu).
